David Gantt is our Democratic Candidate for Chairman of the Buncombe County Commission on the November 4, 2008 ballot. He is leading the ticket with commissioner candidates Holly Jones, K. Ray Bailey, Carol Peterson, and Bill Stanley. Electing a Democratic majority is the best way to assure continued improvements in our public schools and community college, protection and stewardship of our environment, and healthy growth of our economy.

David Gantt has served as a Buncombe County Commissioner since 1996. During that time, he has emerged as a leader and problem solver. David believes that the community is best served by a Commission that has a commitment to funding quality education, protects the beauty of our mountains, and partners with local governments whenever possible to provide necessary services at the most reasonable costs to taxpayers.

During his years on the Commission, David has fought for policies that help working residents find good jobs, find affordable housing, pay decent wages to teachers, law enforcement, and county employees, and provide open and transparent government to everyone.

With your support, David will continue to fight for environmental quality, a healthy economy, and the best educational opportunities we can provide for our young people and workers needing retraining.
